I wanted to suggest a bit of an upgrade to the Rubric marking approach.

I used to work for an institution that used Blackboard Ultra and whilst it wasn't an overly feature rich LMS, one of the things it did amazingly was the ability to allow for mark ranges for each standard of a Rubric, so you would select the standard (which provided the generic feedback) and then enter a mark value which was in the range of that standard.

Here's a demo of how Blackboard's one worked... I would just love to have this in Cypher!
