Feature Request: Certificate of Attendance Based on Live Session Participation

Hello,

We would like to suggest an enhancement to the certificates feature.

Use case:
Many of our learners attend courses primarily for learning and enrichment rather than assessments. While they may not complete exams, they actively attend live sessions or watch recorded classes. Currently, there is no way to recognize this engagement through certification.

Requested feature:
A Certificate of Attendance that can be awarded based on:

  • Percentage of live sessions attended (e.g., 70% or more), and/or

  • Completion of recorded session viewings

This certificate would be separate from the existing Certificate of Completion, which is assessment-based.

Why this is important:

  • A large portion of our learners take courses as a hobby or for personal development

  • Offering a Certificate of Attendance would significantly increase certification value for engaged learners

  • It would reduce pressure on assessments while still maintaining academic rigor for completion certificates

Suggested implementation (optional):

  • Ability to define attendance thresholds for live meetings

  • Option to combine live attendance + recording completion

  • Support for issuing multiple certificates within a single course

We believe this feature would be highly valuable for institutions offering live or hybrid learning models.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.
