Inability to Revise Assessments without Compromising Graded Results

Inability to Revise Assessments without Compromising Graded Results

Background:
It is a best practice as an educator to monitor, evaluate, and improve assessments over time. One example would be the analysis of distractors in MCQs as sufficient data is collected. If a specific distractor is being chosen by <5% of test-takers, that is a clue that is may not be plausible.

Challenge/Problem:
Currently, if changes are made to an assessment's questions, or the question bank feeding that assessment, those changes are reflected on graded assessments for student's who have already completed the assessment. This makes it impossible to implement improvements to a live course over time without compromising data.

Request/Suggestion:
Please consider implementing a solution that would allow us to change assessments while retaining accurate documentation of grades that are already submitted. One possible way to do this would be to allow us to archive a question bank and remove it from an assessment while saving submission data for those questions and answers. We would then be able to add new question banks to an assessment for those test-takers moving forward. This would be much appreciated for those of us who value continuous quality improvement for our courses!
