Credly is a credentialing platform that can be enabled within the CYPHER Learning platforms. Using Credly encourages course completion and participation by recognizing users with achievements for increasing their skill set and providing additional options upon course completion. To enable Credly within CYPHER platforms, follow the steps provided below.
Please note: You must have a Credly account with existing badges before moving forward.
From the left navigation bar, click Admin and then App Center.
Click the Third party integrations checkbox or use the Search field to search for “Credly”.
Find the Credly app and click Install.
The Credly overview page opens with two steps to complete the integration: the basic settings and the authentication. To enable the app, click Edit.
Enter your Credly account credentials, starting with the base endpoint. If you are using a Credly sandbox site, this will be https://sandbox-api.credly.com. If you are using a Credly production site, this will be https://api.credly.com. Check the Enabled box.
Next, enter your Organization ID. To find this, login into your Credly account and click Developers from the left navigation menu. The Organization ID is listed directly under the tabs under the Developers heading.
Copy the Organization ID and paste it into the Organization ID field in MATRIX. Click Save.
Under the Authentication heading, click Configure.
In the User name field, use the Authorization Token from your Credly account. To find this, login into your Credly account and click Developers from the left navigation menu. Click the Authorization Tokens tab.
Either copy an existing token or create a new one.
Add the token, including a semicolon at the end of the token string, to the Organization ID field in MATRIX and click Save.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure that a semicolon is added after the authentication token.
Once the basics and authentication are complete, you can begin adding a Credly badge to courses. You can award Credly badges through any rule actions such as module, section or assignment completion, course enrollment, resource sharing, forum posting, etc.
Note: Once a badge is awarded to a learner, it can not be awarded again. For example, if the Credly badge "ABC" was awarded to learner A, then learner A cannot receive badge “ABC” again.
Open the course and click Admin and then Completion.
Under the Completion actions heading, click + Add.
On the Add action pop up, click the Integrations tab.
Click Credly.
In the Operation field, click the dropdown arrow and select “Issue a badge”.
In the "badge_template_id" field, click the dropdown arrow and select the appropriate badge. Click Save.
When API calls are made by MATRIX to Credly, they are recorded and can be viewed in MATRIX by clicking Admin from the home screen and then Credly.
From the Credly screen, click History.
The API calls are listed, which can be useful when troubleshooting.
In Credly, badges will appear in the Badges/Earners section.
