H5P

H5P

Overview

Our support for the H5P content standard allows you to add H5P resources and H5P assessments to your learning portal. The feature uses LTI for the integration, which means that the content would be created and hosted on a site such as http://www.h5p.com and then embedded to your learning portal.

Configuring H5P integration

To add support for the H5P content standard first, you have to install the H5P app via Admin/App Center.

After installation, click the cog icon.

On the H5P Admin screen, click H5P (LTI 1.3).

The Credentials screen appears.

Navigate to H5P. Click Manage Organization.

Click Connect LMS from the left menu bar.

Click Add LMS Connection.

In the pop up, click the dropdown arrow in the Select your LMS field. Select Other.

In the Connection name field, enter your LMS name.

In the LTI version field, click the dropdown arrow and select the appropriate LTI version.

Click Save.

In the Important Info box, navigate to the For LTI 1.3 section. In the bullet for the Login URL, click Copy to clipboard.

Navigate back to the LMS. Paste the URL from H5P into the OIDC URL field.

Navigate back to H5P and from the same box, find the Redirect URL and click Copy to clipboard.

Navigate back to the LMS and paste the URL into the Redirect URL field.

Navigate back to H5P and scroll to the LMS section. In the Public key information section, click Copy to clipboard.

Navigate back to MATRIX. Paste the URL into the JWKS URL field.

Click Save. The connection settings are updated for H5P (LTI 1.3). Leave this screen open for the next step.

Navigate to H5P and click Connection settings.

The Add registration data screen appears.

For the Client ID field, copy this from the MATRIX H5P (LTI 1.3) settings screen and paste it into this field.

Perform the same for the Issuer field.

For the Login URL, copy the URL from the LMS OIDC URL field in the LMS and paste it into this field.

For the Token URL field, copy the URL from the LMS OAuth2 URL field in the LMS and paste it into this field.

For the Key Set URL field, copy the URL from the LMS Keyset URL field in the LMS and paste it into this field.

Click Save.

In H5P, navigate to the LMS (Deployments) area. Click New deployment.

The Add registration data popup opens. Navigate to the LMS and copy the Deployment ID information and paste it into the popup.

Click Save.

Click the Summary tab, and H5P (LTI 1.3) is now enabled.

Adding H5P content

Once the integration is configured the H5P resource types will be available. You can add H5P resources to the Resource Catalog, to the Resources area of the course, and to the Resource section of content pages. To add H5P content to a resources area select one of the “H5P resource” options.

A pop-up will open where you can enter the name, a description, and select the library where you wish to store the resource.

Once it's added, it will appear in the resources listing for that area.

By default, it launches when the link is clicked, but it's more common to embed it. To embed the resource, click "Show content" in the resources list.

When you click the play button for the first time, the following warning may display. If using LTI 1.3, the warning will not appear. Click Continue.

After clicking Continue, you will see a window that allows you to select which content you want to add for this resource. Please note that the actual display is coming from your H5P provider, for example, http://www.h5p.com.

The selected content will be embedded in the resources area of your learning portal. To set the dimensions of the frame which displays it, click the Edit Display Properties button.

Learner view

When learners visit the resource area they will see the embedded H5P resource.

H5P assessment

When you configure the support for the H5P content standard, the H5P assessment type becomes available. To add an H5P assessment go to the course and add a new section.

Select one of the H5P assessment options from the list of available assessments.

When adding the H5P assessment, you can enter its name, description, points, and more.

In the Options tab, you can decide where to launch the assessment, in a new window or embedded in the portal. By default, it is only launched in a new window on mobile devices.

After the assessment is added, click on it to select its content.

When you click the play button for the first time, the following warning may display. If using LTI 1.3, the warning will not appear. Click Continue.

After clicking Continue, you will see the list with the available content. Select the H5P assessment and click Insert.

The H5P assessment will be added to the course.

Learner view

If the H5P assessment is embedded, learner can click the play button to launch the assessment.

They can take the assessment by following the instructions.

Once the assessment is finished, your portal gets the final score from the H5P provider using LTI and displays it.

Please note: Most H5P providers require a learner to have an email address associated with their account to use their system. If a learner does not have an email address, the following message is displayed.
