Home

Overview

The home page provides a convenient overview of many aspects of your account. You can easily navigate directly to any tab in your Home area by clicking its link in the Home flyout navigation.

The Home dashboard contains three main sections: the banner widget, the courses widget, and the section containing other widgets, including custom report widgets that can be configured by the site administrator.

Administrators can edit the layout of the dashboard by adding, removing, and rearranging widgets. To configure the dashboard, click the "Edit widgets" button in the upper right.

Then select "Center panel".

The widget editor will open, which allows you to reorder widgets as well as add/remove widgets from the "Available widgets" area. 

After configuring the layout of the dashboard, click Save. Also, here you can discard the changes by clicking Cancel or reset to the default layout by clicking the Reset button.

If you don't want to see specific widgets, you can hide them from your view by clicking the three dots in the upper-right corner of the widget then selecting Hide.

All the hidden widgets will appear in the "Hidden widgets" section of the right bar. To add them back to the dashboard, click on their Expand icon icon.

Configuring the banner widget

The banner widget sits at the top of the Home/Dashboard area by default, and it can contain slides with text, images, and call-to-action buttons.

If the widget is configured to show banners as a slide show, you can stop it by clicking the Pause icon.

Once paused, you can start it once again by clicking the Start icon.

To change the content of the banner widget, click on its Edit icon.

The Editor will open, where you can see all the slides in the left bar, the widget setting, and the preview of the widget.

In the Slides are, you can add, reorder, hide, and remove slides. To add a new slide, click on the "Add slide" button.

A pop-up will open, where you can select between the "Text+Picture" and the "Custom HTML" slides.



If you select "Text+Picture", you can easily add the content using the Editor on the left side of the page. Here you can add the heading and content, select the text and background colors, add an image, and an optional button with a link. Please note that if you don't add the button text and link, it won't be displayed on the banner.


You can also add visibility filters if you don't want to show the banner to specific users or groups of users. Visit the Filters topic to learn more about defining filters.

Once the slide is configured, click on Back. The changes will be automatically saved.

If you select "Custom HTML" when adding the new slide, you can use our built-in HTML editor to create its content. When you finished the slide, click Save.

You can change the order of slides in the widget by using drag-and-drop.

To hide or delete a slide, hover over it, then click the cog icon.

If a slide is hidden, you can display it by clicking its Show option.

In the Setting area, you can enter the title of the banner widget, and you can define the autoplay speed. To disable the autoplay, select "Don't autoplay" from the dropdown.

When you finished configuring the banner widget, close the editor, and the changes will be saved automatically.

If you customize the Home dashboard banner widget content, a Reset icon is displayed that allows you to quickly reset it to the default content again.

Courses widget

The courses widget has multiple tabs that offer a preview of the courses you are enrolled in, the courses you are teaching, and if you have any archived, and completed courses.

Please note that course widget tabs are different for different user types. For instance is an example from a learner dashboard.


By default, the widget only shows a preview of a couple of courses in each tab. You can navigate the preview by clicking the arrows in the upper-right corner.

The see all the courses in a tab, click on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the widget, then select Maximize.

You can collapse the maximized widget by clicking the Minimize option.

From the course widget, you can add courses, enroll in courses, and visit the course Catalog by clicking the three dots and selecting the appropriate options.

You can access the "Templates" link from the courses widget that will take you directly to the Courses/List/Templates area.

You can also switch the Teaching and Enrolled tabs of the Courses widget to list mode. Please note that if you are teaching or you are enrolled in more than 20 courses then the list mode is always selected so your dashboard loads quickly.

The list view offers more details about the courses, such as the number of learners, grades, and more. Please note that the "To score" numbers link directly to the "Assessments/To score" area in the course.

Awards widget

This widget displays the awards the user received for doing certain tasks. To see more details, click the More icon and select Maximize.

Groups widget

This widget displays the groups to which each user belongs. To add or join groups, click on the More icon. Also, here you can maximize the widget to see all of your groups, and you can visit the Groups Catalog.

Mastery widget

If it was enabled by the portal administrator, any learner that is active in a course or has completed a course that has associated competencies will see the Mastery widget on their dashboard that displays a top-level view of the mastery of each competency group. To see more details, click the More icon and select Maximize.

Admin dashboard

This dashboard displays site statistics that are only available to administrators. Learners and instructors can't see this dashboard. Administrators can edit the Admin dashboard widgets. To learn more about how to edit dashboard widgets, visit the Widgets topic.

Agenda

The Agenda tab of the Home area shows everything that's going on in a particular week. Administrators can enable it for the learning platform via the Admin/Portal/User view area.

The Home/Agenda tab only shows for users who are teaching or enrolled in at least one instructor-led or blended course. It shows all module/assessment events for all the courses that they are in, as well as all group calendar events, and each entry is linked to its associated module/assessment/group.

An assessment event also shows if the learner has created a submission or not.

 When a user goes to their home page, they will see the default page that the administrator configured the site via Admin/Portal/User view - either the Dashboard or the News page.


You can also set your landing page by going to your profile, then click Settings from the left bar, and choose your desired landing page from the Miscellaneous area.


Right bar

In the right bar, you can find information on the following. Please note that administrators can edit and configure the right bar widgets.



To do

This area maintains your to-do list. If you are an instructor, this area includes a list of all the assessments to grade together with the course that the assessments are associated with. If you click on the link, it takes you to a list of just those assessments that need grading, as well as providing an option to see a complete list of all assessments.

If you are a student, this area includes a list of all the assessments due together with the course that the assessments are associated with. If you click on the link, it takes you a list of just those assessments that are due, as well as providing an option to see a complete list of all assessments.

To add an item, click on Add icon and add a description. To remove an item, hover over the item and click Delete icon.

Please note that for users that teach more than 40 courses, we disable the To-grade summary in the To-Do widget in order to keep their dashboard fast. This ONLY applies to the To-Do widget in the Dashboard area. The To-Do widget in individual courses works fine.

Compliance

If you are enrolled in a course that is required for compliance, then in this area, you can see your status for those courses.

Announcements

This area lists all the business, course, and group announcements for the last 7 days. To see an announcement's details, click on it. A pop-up will open with the announcement.


Today

This area lists all of today's items, including assessments that are due, modules that you are teaching or taking, and calendar events.

Upcoming

This area lists upcoming items in the next 7 days. Modules are not shown, only assessments due and calendar events. If there are more than 20 items, only the first 20 are listed.

Awards

This area lists the awards you received for doing certain tasks on the platform.

Plan

This area shows your current plan. If you are in a premium plan, it also indicates if you are over the user limit. To see the available plans or change your plan, click on .
