Overview

OpenSesame is a content provider with a marketplace of over 50,000 online training courses from 100+ publishers. OpenSesame provides courses in business skills, leadership, safety, compliance, and more.

By integrating OpenSesame into your platform, you can provide your learners with direct access to OpenSesame courses through the course Catalog.

Please note CYPHER for business utilizes the term course. CYPHER for academia utilizes the term class. The terms course and class are interchangeable in this article. 

Installing the OpenSesame app

To enable OpenSesame, you must first install the app on your platform.
  1. Click Admin on the main navigation menu.
  2. Click App center from the fly-out menu.
  3. Click Install on the OpenSesame tile in the Third Party content section of the App center.

Enabling OpenSesame

To integrate OpenSesame with your platform, you will need a unique OpenSesame Customer Integration ID (CIID). Request this ID from your OpenSesame Implementation Specialist.  

To configure and enable OpenSesame:
  1. Click Admin from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click Catalog from the fly-out menu.
  3. Click the Configure icon in the settings column for OpenSesame.

The OpenSesame Catalog settings display:

  1. OpenSesame Catalog: Click Edit to update the name of the catalog or to add a catalog introduction.
  2. Pagination: Select how many tiles per page can display in the catalog.
  3. Default course administrator: The Super admin is the default course administrator. Click Change user to update the administrator.
  4. Catalog provider: Click Edit to enter your Customer integration ID.

A new page displays that allows you to set up your OpenSesame integration.
  1. Enter your Customer integration ID.
    1. Your Customer Integration ID will be provided by OpenSesame.
  2. Click Save.

After entering your Customer Integration ID, test your connection.
  1. Click the Test connection button in the Catalog provider section to verify your connection.
    1. An API call will be made to OpenSesame. If a connection is not made successfully, an error message will display.

Send OpenSesame courses     

Now that your OpenSesame integration is active, you can send courses to CYPHER Learning. Visit www.opensesame.com and log in to the administrator account that contains your course licenses.

To locate your OpenSesame courses:
  1. In the OpenSesame navigation bar, select My Lists. 
  2. Open a List by clicking its title.
  3. Select from the courses within the list. You can select all courses, specific Groups, or individual courses.
    1. Note - Only courses with an active license will successfully send.
  4. After selecting a course or multiple courses, Click the Deliver Courses button.
A modal will display with the total courses that will be delivered.
  1. If you have multiple license types for any of the selected courses, Click the Delivery Method tab and choose which license you would like to use.
  2. Then, click the Send to Integration drop-down menu.
  3. Select CYPHER Learning from the list.
  4. Click the Deliver Courses button to send your selections to your CYPHER Learning platform on its next sync. 
    1. Courses sync overnight. The overnight sync time varies based on the time zone of your CYPHER Learning platform.
  5. A confirmation will appear stating the courses have been added to your delivered tab.
    1. Click View status in the confirmation message if you would like to visit the My courses dashboard.

Enable the OpenSesame catalog

To enable the Open Sesame catalog in your CYPHER Learning platform:
  1. Click Admin from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click Catalog from the fly-out menu.
  3. In the Enable? column, select the OpenSesame checkbox.


Now that the catalog is enabled, the OpenSesame tab will display in the Catalog. To locate the OpenSesame catalog:
  1. Click Catalog from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click the OpenSesame tab.
This is where your OpenSesame courses display, organized by their OpenSesame categories.

Manually sync the OpenSesame catalog

Courses from OpenSesame automatically sync with your platform overnight. If you remove a course from OpenSesame or it is retired by its publisher, it is automatically unpublished in your CYPHER Learning platform overnight and will no longer appear.

You can also manually sync the courses at any time. To manually sync OpenSesame courses with your platform:
  1. Click Admin from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click Catalog from the fly-out menu.
  3. Click the Configure icon in the Settings column for OpenSesame.
  4. Click the Sync Now button.
