Configuring drip content
To set up drip content:
- Access a course or class.

- Click Admin on the course/class navigation menu.

- Click Configure on the fly-out menu.

- Click the Modules tab.

- Click + Enable in the Drip content section.

The Drip content pop-up displays.
- Message: You can choose to send a canned or custom message to learners to let them know when modules are unlocked.

- By default, learners receive a canned message when a module is unlocked. The @lesson_name and @lesson_name_with_link variables are substituted automatically by the platform.
- When: The when section allows you to specify the time each module is unlocked in days, hours, and/or minutes.

- The first module or lesson is immediately available to learners when they first enroll, and each subsequent module is unlocked after the specified time has passed.

- Apply retroactively?: By default, drip content is scheduled when a learner is enrolled into a course, so if you add drip content to an existing course, existing learners will not be impacted. Selecting "Apply retroactively" will apply the drip content settings to existing learners as well as new learners.

- Message: If you select Custom you can customize the message learners receive when modules are unlocked. Many variables are available to help you craft your custom message, which are listed in the pop-up.

- Tip: If you would like to let learners know the reason an action occurred, you can use the @why variable.

- If you do not want to send a message, select None.

Once drip content is enabled, you can modify your settings:
- Click Edit to adjust your message or change when modules become available.

- Click Disable to turn off drip content.

- If you click Disable, drip content will be disabled for all existing and new enrollments.

Learner view
When learners access courses with drip content enabled, they can view all modules. However, they can only access the modules that are unlocked.
A locked icon displays on all locked module tiles.
Learners receive notification when modules are unlocked.
Lock and unlock module rules
The platform allows you to customize how modules and lessons are locked and unlocked. Rules can be added for courses, modules, sections, and assessments to unlock modules based on learner actions.
For example, you can create a rule that unlocks a module when the previous module is completed.
First, you must lock the second module:
- Access the second module.

- Click the Locking tab.

- Select the Locked radio button.

- The module is now locked for learners.
Then, you must create the rule:
- Access the first module.

- Click the Completion tab.

- Click + Add in the Completion actions section.

The Add action pop-up displays.
- Click Unlock module.

The Unlock module pop-up displays.
- Module: Select the second module from the Module drop-down.

- Message: Determine if you would like learners to receive a canned, custom, or no message when the module is unlocked.

- When: Select Immediately from the drop-down menu if you want the second module to unlock when learners complete the first module.

- Click Save.

The Unlock rule was added and displays in the Completion actions list.
- Click the Edit icon if you would like to edit the action.
