Kaltura

Overview

Our integration with Kaltura allows you to upload media to Kaltura directly from your learning platform and use your Kaltura resources in various places on your portal. For example, you can upload a video to Kaltura and then you can embed it in multiple pages across your courses. To enable the Kaltura integration, administrators have to install tha app via Admin/App center.

After the site admin configured the Kaltura app, the "My media" tab will appear in the Resource area where you can see all the resources you've uploaded to Kaltura.

If you select "Media Upload", you can use drag and drop or you can select the file from your computer.

All your uploaded Kaltura resources are listed in the My media area. Here you can search for files, sort the list, and change between the detailed and collapsed view.

You can edit or delete the files by clicking its appropriate buttons.

A media file that isn't used anywhere in the site is listed as private.

If you add the file to the media library of a course or you embed the media, it will be listed as Published. If you click on the Published button, it will show you where it is used.

Using Kaltura Classroom

To use Kaltura Classroom via our Kaltura integration first, open your Kaltura dashboard (provided by Kaltura).

Then search for the "newrow" module, which is their name for the classroom.

Then make sure that "enableLiveRoomButtonByDefault" is set to Yes.

When you go back to your learning platform, you will see a "Start Meeting" button appear in the Kaltura media tab of any course that has the Kaltura tab enabled.

Each course gets its own meeting room, so if a learner or instructor in a course clicks that button, it launches the shared & persistent Kaltura Classroom for that course. It will include a chat room, whiteboard, video conferencing, etc.
