Product Updates - Week of July 13th, 2026

Updated feature

  1. Enhanced time spent tracking
    1. An update was made to the way the platform tracks learner time spent within a course. The platform now more accurately measures the time learners actively interact with course content instead of relying on how long a browser page remains open. The update also improves compatibility with modern browser privacy features that can affect time tracking, resulting in more accurate learning time data.
    2. Time spent tracking pauses when a learner:
      1. Opens another browser tab or window and is no longer active in the course.
      2. Switches to another application and is no longer active in the course.
      3. Remains idle on a page for more than five minutes.
        1. Exception: Time spent tracking continues while learners are viewing video content, interacting with MS Live Embed documents, or viewing embedded documents and resources.
      4. In the event a browser crashes or the battery suddenly dies on a device, time tracking will be ended at the duration set in your platform’s User inactivity settings.
    3. As a result of this update, you may begin to see lower totals for time spent by learners within courses. This change reflects the increased detail and accuracy of tracked user activity within content.
    4. If you would prefer to track the total time a course is open, rather than active learner interaction time, you can adjust the Time spent setting in your platform. To adjust the setting:
      1. Hover over Admin on the primary navigation menu.
      2. Click Policies from the fly-out menu.
      3. Click the Learners tab.
      4. Deselect the Use interaction time to calculate time spent on a class checkbox.
        1. Note that this setting is only available to super administrators.
    5. To learn more about how time is tracked within the platform, visit the How to track time spent in a course knowledge base article.

Behind the scenes

  1. Contact button for free courses: Resolved an issue that prevented the Contact button from displaying when the Display contact option instead of allowing purchase/enrollment setting was selected for catalog items with no price that do not require an access code.
  2. Child course enrollment settings: Fixed an issue that caused parent course enrollment settings to override the enrollment settings of child courses. Enrollment settings are now applied independently to each child course as expected.
  3. Tab display issue for new versions of Chrome: Fixed an issue that caused tab navigation to display as separated tabs in Chrome version 150.
  4. Users PDF Export: Updated the Export to PDF button on User pages to open the PDF in a new browser tab with the Print dialog displayed. This behavior is now consistent across all User pages.
