An administrator is responsible for the overall management and configuration of the platform. Most administrator functions are available via the Admin tab and are described briefly here. Each function is then described in detail in the help sections that follow.
The administrator is usually the one who registers a company. Ideally, you should pick a URL that is short and easy to remember.
The administrator can view the current usage for the plan by visiting admin/plans.
There are several ways to create accounts, including manual creation using a form, emailing invitations, bulk import from a file, and self-registration. Once accounts are created, you can edit them, change their account settings, and/or delete them.
Each company gets its own portal. The administrator is responsible for its customization, including its URL, color scheme, terminology, portal slides and portal pages.
You can configure your course catalog to be viewed as a flat list, a hierarchy, or graphically. You can also specify whether categories and courses are ordered alphabetically or in an order that you specify.
You can configure a large number of settings for your company, such as whether picture moderation is required and whether student communications are monitored.
If you want to charge for your courses, our site allows you to accept payment via a Paypal, Authorize.net or Stripe. It also includes support for discount codes.
If you have an Enterprise Premium plan, you can optionally use your company's SMTP server for sending/receiving emails rather than using the default platform SMTP server.
If you have an Enterprise Premium plan, you can optionally use your school's LDAP server for authentication and even for populating the platform with accounts.
You can create reports of data such as student activity, missing work, course status, completion status and resource usage.
You can configure the dashboard with settings such as customizing the messages that are displayed for instructors that aren’t teaching any courses and students that aren’t enrolled in any courses.
There are many best practices that we recommend for administrators, such as choosing a short URL, investing some time to make your portal attractive, creating course templates for all your courses, and more.
