Report cards

Report cards

Overview

Administrators can issue customizable report cards directly from their platform. By default, a PDF report card format is provided, but administrators have the option to create customized PDF formats. To start using report cards, go to Admin/App Center and install the "Report cards" app.

Adding report cards

Once the app is installed, the new Report card tab will appear in the main left navigation bar. To create a report card, click the Add button in the Catalog page of the Report cards area.

A pop-up will open where you can enter the name of the report card and a description, then click Save.

You will be taken to the overview page of the report card, where you can edit its name and description.

Configuring report cards

To select the format of the report card, click Template.

A template is a PDF form that is automatically filled in with information from the LMS. By default, our built-in template is selected. To see the report card, click on the "view" icon.

The built-in format looks like this, with fields for the school name, student name, grading period, and then rows for each class.

Giving report cards

Once you have prepared the report card, you can Give it. Click Give and then enter the required values/filters. At least one class filter is required, but the user filter is optional. By default, all students in the selected classes will receive a report card, but you can use filters to only select specific students. For example, students that live in California.

You can also select whether you want the report card to be given immediately, or you can schedule it to be issued at a specific time in the future.

You can determine who receives the report card - the student, their parents, or both.

When the report card is given, you will receive a notification with a link to details of who the report card was given to.

The report card will show up in the History list.

If you click the report card title you will see a list of all the students who received report cards as well as a link to the PDF report card.

The students and/or parents will also receive a notification that they have received a report card along with a button to click to view it.

Here's what the filled-out version of our built-in report card looks like. Note that you can create a customized version that includes your school logo, your preferred font, additional fields, etc.

You can give a report card as many times as you like. For example, you could create a standard report card template and then give it at the end of each semester. Each time you give a report card, it adds a new line to the history list.

The scheduled report cards will appear in the Scheduled tab.

Adding notes to report cards

To create notes that appear in the report card, you can use the existing student class notes feature. Go to the Students tab of the class, click on the "more" icon of the student and select Notes.

Here in the visibility options area, you can select "Report card".
