SEO

Overview

SEO (search engine optimization) is focused on growing visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine results.  With the SEO feature, you can increase the quantity and quality of traffic to your site through organic search engine results by adding meta descriptions and keywords to multiple areas such as the catalog, catalog items, custom pages, and more.

SEO for the portal

In the Admin/Portal/SEO area, you can enable site indexing, you can set up named catalog URLs, and you can add meta description and keywords. Here you also have the option to upload a custom robots.txt that overrides the default robots.txt for your site and you can upload a custom sitemap.xml that overrides the default sitemap for your site.

To enable Search engine indexing, check the Enable? box.

To add a meta description and/or keywords, click Edit. Enter the description and keywords, then click Save.

You can include the name of catalog items in their public URL automatically. Visit Admin/Portal/SEO and enabled the "Named catalog URLs" option.

After enabling this option, then public catalog URLs will include the item's title.

Note that the title itself is ignored by the platform, so if you change an item's title later, it won't break previous URLs.

SEO for custom portal pages

You can set SEO metadata for custom portal pages. Go to the portal pages section in the Admin/Portal/Visitor view area and click the + icon in the SEO column.

Then enter the description and keywords and click Save.

SEO for the Course catalog

To set the metadata description and keywords for a category, click the + icon under "Seo Metadata".

Add a meta description and/or keywords, then click Save.

SEO for courses

You can also set metadata descriptions and keywords for a catalog item such as courses, learning paths, and more. To set the description and keywords, go to the item and visit its Admin/Catalog area then click the "Add" option in the SEO section. Please note that we copy the course SEO metadata when the course is copied.

Add a meta description and/or keywords, then click Save.

SEO for news posts

You can set SEO metadata for news postings published on the visitor portal. To set the metadata, visit the Admin/Portal/Visitor view area and click on News in the "Portal pages" section.

Select the news item, then clicking the + icon.

Add a meta description and/or keywords, then click Save.
