CYPHER for business defaults to the term instructor. CYPHER for academia defaults to the term teacher. The terms instructor and teacher are interchangeable in this article and customizable in the platform.

CYPHER for business defaults to the term course . CYPHER for academia defaults to the term class. The terms course and class are interchangeable in this article and customizable in the platform.
Each course or class has a primary instructor or teacher designated as the owner. The primary instructor or teacher can:
  1. Edit and update the course/class.
  2. Enroll and update learners and students.
  3. Configure the course/class.
  4. Delete the course.
  5. Deactivate the course.
  6. Change the primary owner.
  7. Add co-instructors or co-teachers.
Co-instructors/Co-teachers can:
  1. Edit and update the course/class.
  2. Enroll and update learners and students.
  3. Configure the course/class.

To see the instructors or teacher for a course:

  1. Access the course or class.
  2. Click Instructors or Teachers from the course/class navigation menu.
  3. A list of instructors or teachers displays.
    1. In the example below, note that Stephanie is the course owner.
    2. The Last visited column displays the last time the instructor or teacher visited the course.

You can view additional details of each instructor or teacher's activity.

  1. Click the More icon.
  2. Click Activity.
  3. Listed activities can include:
    1. Creation/deletion of the course or class.
    2. Enrollment/un-enrollment of learners or students.
    3. Creation/last update/deletion of modules or lessons and assessments or assignments.
    4. Grading of submissions.
    5. Postings to forums.
    6. Creation of top-level resources.

Adding co-instructors or co-teachers

To add co-instructors or co-teachers:

  1. Access the course or class.
  2. Click Instructors or Teachers from the course/class navigation menu.
  3. Click + Add.

There are several ways to add co-instructors or co-teachers.
  1. Select instructors or teachers using the people picker.
  2. Email invitations to instructors or teachers.
  3. Import instructors or teachers using a CSV file.

Add co-instructors or co-teachers using the people picker

You can use the people picker to quickly select instructors or teachers.

  1. Click People picker from the Add coinstructors popup box.
  2. Locate instructors or teachers using name search, account type, groups, courses and/or organizations.
  3. Select the checkbox next to an instructor's name on the left column.
    1. Note there may be additional pages of instructors in the list.
    2. Use the paginated numbers or the Next button to view additional instructors.
  4. Click the right arrow to move selected instructors to the right column.
  5. Click Add.

Add co-instructors or co-teachers using email invitations

You can add co-instructors or co-teachers using email invitations.

  1. Click Email invitations from the Add coinstructors popup box.
  2. Select an Organization.
  3. Choose the approximate number of invitations you'd like to send.
  4. Click Continue

The number of invitation rows that display directly correlates to the number of invitations you selected on the previous screen.
  1. Enter the email addresses and names of the co-instructors or co-teachers you would like to add to the course.
  2. Click Send.

Add co-instructors or co-teachers from a CSV file

You can add co-instructors or co-teachers directly from a CSV file.

  1. Click Enroll instructors from a file from the Add coinstructors popup box.
  2. Click + Add file.
  3. Select the CSV file to upload from your device.
    1. The CSV file should be two columns. Click here for an example CSV file. 
    2. Use the drop-down menus to configure the values used to identify the Course/Class and Instructor/Teacher, and to designate which column will contain each value.
  4. Select if you would like to perform a dry run of the file upload.
  5. Select if would like to send notifications to the instructors or teachers.
  6. Click Continue.

You will receive a message when the import is complete, as well as the results of the import.
  1. In the example below you can see the instructors that were successfully added to each course.

Manage co-instructors and co-teachers

Managing co-instructors and co-teachers is intuitive.

To remove co-instructors:
  1. Access the course or class.
  2. Click Instructors or Teachers from the course/class navigation menu.
  3. Select the checkbox(es) next to the co-instructors or co-teachers.
  4. Click - Remove.

To change the primary owner of a course:

  1. Access the course or class.
  2. Click Instructors or Teachers from the course/class navigation menu.
  3. Click the Owner radio button next to the new primary course owner.
