Overview

If you use Google Drive, you can import your Google documents into the resources library and then reuse them just like any other resource. Google Drive resources are displayed live in a frame, so the current version of the document is always visible.

Installing the Google Drive app

To enable Google Drive for your account, first, an administrator must install the Google Drive app. Administrators:
  1. Click Admin from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click App center from the fly-out menu.
  3. Install the Google Drive app.

Enabling Google Drive for your profile

To use Google Drive files, you must first connect your Google Drive account.
  1. Click your profile picture.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Select the Google Drive checkbox.

If you are not currently authenticated with Google Drive, you will be prompted for your Google User ID and Password.
  1. Select Allow and Continue if you are willing to grant permission for the platform to access your Google Drive.

If you confirm, you are returned to your profile settings area and Google Drive is enabled for your account. If you want to disable Google Drive for your account:
  1. Uncheck the Google Drive checkbox.

Importing Google Drive files into your library

To import files from your Google Drive into the library:

  1. Click Resources from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Click Add from the fly-out menu.
  3. Click Google Doc.

  1. Select one or more files.
  2. Click Save.

The files will then display in your Resources library.

Using Google Drive resources

Before a file from your Google Drive can be used as a live resource that other users can view, you must make it public. To make a file public:

  1. Access Google Drive.
  2. Click Share.
  3. Select the General access level you are comfortable with for the document.
  4. Click Done.

Then when you go to the Resources catalog and select a Google Drive resource from your library, a live version of the document is displayed in a frame.

You can also add Google Drive files into the HTML editor.
  1. When you add a file into the HTML editor, click the GDrive tab to view Google Drive files.
