Overview

Take CYPHER Learning with you on the go! You can easily access the platform anytime, anywhere by downloading the CYPHER Learning mobile app. Just connect the app to your site and enjoy seamless learning right from your mobile device. 

Download the CYPHER Learning mobile app

To begin, download the CYPHER Learning app to your mobile device. 
  1. Apple iOS users download the CYPHER Learning app from the Apple App Store.
  2. Android users download the CYPHER Learning app from Google Play.

Connecting your platform to the mobile app

The first time you open the CYPHER Learning app, you will need to connect the app to your platform. To connect the app to your platform:
  1. Tap the CYPHER Learning mobile app on your device.
  2. Select your product:
    1. Tap CYPHER for business to connect to a business platform.
    2. Tap CYPHER for academia to connect to an academia platform.

Next, you will select your domain: 
  1. The app defaults to the US domain.
  2. Tap Switch to .eu domain for EU sites.
  3. Tap Switch to .com.au domain for AU sites.

After selecting your domain, you will enter your platform's URL.
  1. Enter the full URL for your platform.
    1. Alternatively, you can enter the subdomain for your platform. For example, you can enter ‘yoursiteexample’ to access a platform with a URL of ‘yoursiteexample.matrixlms.com’.
  2. Tap Continue.

Your platform now displays in the mobile app. Your platform URL will be saved in the app, and will automatically open when you open the mobile app in the future.
  1. Tap Log in to login to your site.

Navigating the CYPHER Learning mobile app is similar to navigating the desktop platform, with a few key differences. 

The primary navigation menu is located at the bottom of your mobile device. To open a menu from the primary navigation menu:
  1. Tap a menu button from the bottom menu, such as Courses, Goals, Groups, etc.
  2. To view additional menu options, swipe right on the menu.

In the example screenshot below, the Courses menu was selected. The menu provides options just like the desktop experience.
  1. Tap Enrolled or Completed to view courses within each tab.
  2. Tap on a course title to access it. 
  3. Tap Catalog to access the course catalog.
  4. Tap Enroll to enroll in a course with an access code.
  5. Tap the close arrow  to close the menu.

In the top right menu, the Messages and Notifications icons display. To located additional top menu options:
  1. Tap the hamburger menu  in the upper left corner.

  1. Tap Inbox to view your messages.
  2. Tap Notifications to view a list of your notifications.
  3. Tap Calendar to see your primary calendar.
  4. Tap Profile to view your profile page.
  5. Tap Log out to log out of the app.
  6. Tap the close  button to close the menu.

Please note the options displayed on the menu will vary based on your role and platform.

Additionally, a left drawer menu exists which provides additional mobile browser navigation. To access the left drawer menu:
  1. Swipe right from any page in the mobile app.
The left drawer menu displays, with the following options:
  1. Tap Back to return to the previous screen.
  2. Tap Refresh to refresh the current screen.
  3. Tap Check for Updates to discover if you have the latest version of the app, or if you need an update.
  4. Tap the close  button to close the menu.

Offline mode

The mobile app offers an offline mode, allowing you to save (cache) content for access when your mobile device doesn't have an internet connection.
You can cache the following items:
  1. Primary navigation menus.
  2. Course pages.
  3. PDF documents.

Enabling offline mode 

Offline mode is disabled by default. To enable offline mode in the mobile app:
  1. Open the mobile app and login to your platform.
  2. Swipe right from any page to open the left drawer menu.
  3. Toggle Offline Mode on.

When Offline mode is enabled, any page you visit while connected to the internet will be automatically cached for offline use. 
Idea
Tip: Think of this as "save as you browse" - just visit what you need ahead of time.

Caching content

When Offline mode is enabled, the cache cloud icon displays on each page. The cache cloud icon indicates the status of the cached page:
  1. Orange cache cloud icon Orange cloud: Page is currently being cached. 
  2.  Green cache cloud icon Green cloud: Page has been successfully cached.

Note that you must have an active internet connection to cache content.

To cache pages in a course:
  1. Ensure the mobile device is connected to the internet and enable Offline mode.
  2. Access a course. 
  3. Tap through each page you want to cache.
    1. Each page is cached when the cache cloud icon turns green.
Idea
Tip: Is the icon in your way? You can move the cache cloud icon - just tap and drag it anywhere on the screen.

Additionally, you can cache PDFs for offline access. To cache a PDF file:
    1. Ensure the mobile device is connected to the internet and enable Offline mode.
    2. Tap Resources from the navigation menu.
    3. Tap Catalog from the fly-up menu.
      1. Wait for the Catalog page to fully cache as indicated by the green cache cloud icon.
    4. Select a PDF resource.

    To return to the platform:
    1. Swipe right to open the left drawer menu.
    2. Tap Back to return to the previous screen.

    Accessing cached content

    Course pages and resources cached during your current, active session can be accessed, even if your mobile device no longer has an internet connection.

    When your device is offline, you will see a banner at the top of the page: You're viewing cached content.

    To view cached content:
    1. Tap the cache cloud icon.

    1. Click the cached course or resource page.
      1. Note that you can also remove a page from the cache by tapping the trash can  icon next to the cached page.

    If you are offline and try to click on a link or button that has not been cached, a message will display letting you know the page is not available offline, as shown below.

    Additional details about Offline mode 

    1. You must be online with Offline mode enabled to cache content.
    2. Only pages you visit and cache will be available when your device is offline.
    3. Button or links you don't tap (like Previous) won't work when your device is offline. 
    4. Currently, videos and SCORM packages cannot be added to a user's cache.
    5. Users should not take assessments offline, as answers will not be tracked without an internet connection.
    6. Cached content is stored only for the current session.
      1. Closing or logging out of the app will clear your cache.
      IdeaPro tip: Before going offline, click through and review everything you might need in your Cached pages menu.

    Troubleshooting

    If you experience difficulties connecting to your platform, check for the following:
    1. Product: Did you select the correct product at the first step?
      1. If your URL includes 'matrixlms', you should select CYPHER for business.
      2. If your URL includes 'neolms', you should select CYPHER for academia.
    2. Domain: Did you select the correct domain?
      1. If your URL ends with '.com', you should select Switch to .com domain.
      2. If your URL ends with '.eu', you should select Switch to .eu domain.
      3. If your URL ends with '.com.au', you should select Switch to .com.au domain.
    3. URL: For best results, enter your full portal URL.
