Profiles

Overview

Every user has a profile page that includes information such as a description, account details, friends, photos, social media links and more.

The information that is visible on a user's profile page depends on your account type and your portal's security settings. 

Profile basics

You can access other user's profile through the platform by clicking their name or profile picture. To access your own profile:
  1. Click your name or profile picture in the top right menu.

About tab

Each profile displays a banner image, the user's name and profile picture. Additional information is available in each profile tab.

Note the tabs that display vary by platform and user role. 
The About tab is the default tab. The About tab includes a profile description, and any awards, certificates and badges the user has earned.

The Info tab includes a user's name, organization, job title, location, and contact information.

Enrolled tab

The Enrolled tab displays information about courses and paths the user is currently enrolled in, as well as their progress, scores, mastery progress, time spent in the course, and last visited date.

Completed tab

The Completed tab lists all of a user's completed courses and paths, as well as their progress, scores, mastery progress, time spent in the course, and last visited date.

Goals tab

If enabled, the Goals tab displays a user's current goals and their Mastery level progress.
  1. Users can Add, Remove, and Pause goals from this page.

Groups tab

The Groups tab lists all of the groups a user is member of, as well as the group type, number of members, and scope.

Editing profile information

You can easily update many aspects of your profile. To change your profile information:

  1. Click your profile picture.
  2. Click Edit.

If Edit does not display on your profile, it may be disabled on your platform.

The Edit pop-up allows you to change your picture, profile description, password, account info and social media IDs.

To edit your profile picture:
  1. Click Edit on your profile.
  2. Click Picture.
  3. Click + Add picture to upload a picture.
    1. Select a photo.
    2. Click Save.
  4. Or click on an avatar to use as your profile picture instead.

To edit your profile description:

  1. Click Edit on your profile.
  2. Click Description.
  3. Enter a new description.
  4. Click Save.

To change your password:

  1. Click Edit on your profile.
  2. Click Password.
  3. Enter your current password, a new password and confirm the new password.
  4. Click Save.

To edit your profile information:

  1. Click Edit on your profile.
  2. Click Info.
  3. Update your name, basic information and contact details.
  4. Click Save.

To edit your social media links:

  1. Click Edit on your profile.
  2. Click Social Media.
  3. The platform supports Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram links. Enter your social media IDs as you want to display them on your profile.
    1. When entering your account ID, enter your ID, NOT the entire URL. For example, in the case of Facebook, if the URL is "https://www.facebook.com/sally.johnson.12"  you only have to insert your ID, which is at the end of the URL "sally.johnson.12".
  4. Click Save.

Public profile

Some platforms include the ability to activate a public profile for each user.

To learn more about enabling public profiles for the entire site, administrators should visit the Public profiles section of the Profile settings for administrators article.
If public profiles are enabled for your platform, they are not activated by default. Your profile status is indicated on your profile banner. 

To activate a public profile, click on the cog icon.

Then select a unique URL for your profile and check Enable profile.

You can also select if you want to show friends and/or allow visitors to send a message through your public profile.

You can click on the cog at any time to change your public profile settings.

You can also change the background picture of your profile page:
  1. Click the cog in the upper-left corner of the image (shown in the screenshot below).
  2. Click Change Picture.
  3. Select a photo from your computer.
  4. Click Save.

Profile URL

When a public profile is enabled, its URL is displayed on the user's profile page and can be seen by everyone.

If you visit the public URL, you will see the public version of the profile page.

  1. Here you will see the awards received by the user. Click See all to see a larger tiled view of the awards.
  2. If the class or learning path associated with an award has a public catalog page, it will be linked to that page.
  3. If friends are shown, a list of the friends that have public profile pages is listed in the right column with links to their public profiles.

Profile navigation menu

Your profile page includes additional options on the secondary Profile navigation menu. Navigating through the options on the Profile menu, you can view Settings, Purchases, Awards, Portfolio and more. The options that display on the Profile menu depend on your platform setup.

The Settings page allows you to make updates such as:

  1. Change your display and notification settings.
  2. Update your Social Media IDs.
  3. Enable Integrations with Google Drive, Google Meet and OneDrive.
  4. Update your language and Time zone.

Privacy

The Privacy page allows you to update settings such as allowing friendships and chat requests.

Purchases

The Purchases page displays a list of purchased courses, including price, purchase date, quantity and status.

Awards

The Awards page displays all of your awards and certificates. Certificates can be opened and listed by clicking on their icon.

Blog

If enabled, the Blog page will display your personal blog posts. 

Portfolio

If enabled, you can use the Portfolio page to add items such as Files, HTML packages, Web resources, Tools, Folders and Favorites resources to keep in your portfolio.

Mentors

The Mentors page will display any mentors you have in the platform.

Friends

The Friends page will display any friends you have in the platform.

Right panel

The right panel of your profile page includes additional widgets. The widgets that display depend on your platform setup. 

Account

The Account widget displays the date you joined, your recent activity and your login credentials.

Site-wide game

If you are a member of a site-wide game, your acquired points, number of badges, and ranking in the game will display in the widget.

Mentors

This widget lists your mentor(s).
