Overview

The home page provides a convenient view of many features on the platform.

Dashboard

The default view of the home page for most users is the Dashboard. The dashboard contains three main sections:
  1. The Banner widget.
  2. The Courses widget.
    1. The Goals widget may also display depending on the setup of your platform.
  3. An Additional widget section, which contains smaller widgets based on the platform's setup.

The banner widget displays general platform guidance, announcements and news. The banner widget may be static or a carousel of information.

Courses widget

The Courses widget displays as a carousel, and has multiple tabs based on your role. For example, learners may see the following tabs:

  1. Enrolled: Displays all courses the user is enrolled in.
  2. Compliance: Displays all compliance courses the user is enrolled in.
  3. Completed: Displays all courses the user has completed. 
  4. Deactivated: This tab will only display for users that are enrolled in a deactivated tab.
Instructors will see the tabs above, as well as a Teaching tab:
  1. Teaching: Displays all courses for which the user is listed as a teacher.

Please note the business platform uses the term 'courses' and the academia platform uses the term 'classes'. The terms 'courses' and 'classes' are interchangeable in this article.
By default, the widget only shows a preview of courses in each tab.
  1. You can navigate the preview by clicking the arrows in the upper-right corner of the widget.

There are additional options available by accessing the three dot menu in the Courses widget. The options that display vary by role.

To see all of the courses in a tab:
  1. Click on the three dot  menu in the upper-right corner of the widget.
  2. Click Maximize.

To collapse the maximized widget:
  1. Click on the three dot  menu in the upper-right corner of the widget.
  2. Click Minimize.

Additional options available from the courses widget include:

  1. Click Add to add a new course (only available to instructor and administrators).
  2. Click Enroll to enroll in courses.
  3. Click Catalog to visit the course Catalog.

The courses widget also allows instructors and administrators to directly access templates:

  1. Click on the three dot  menu in the upper-right corner of the widget.
  2. Click Templates to directly access the course template list.

You can also switch the Teaching and Enrolled tabs of the Courses widget to list mode to see additional details about each course. 

  1. Click on the three dot  menu in the upper-right corner of the widget.
  2. Click List view.

Please note that if you are teaching or enrolled in more than 20 courses, the list mode is automatically selected to improve dashboard performance.

For instructors, the list view offers additional details about each course, such as the number of learners, grades, and more.

Please note that the To score numbers link directly to the Assessments/To score area in the course.

Goals widget

If you have active or paused the goals, the expanded Goals widget will display on your dashboard. The expanded Goals widget is a carousel with multiple tabs:

  1. Active: Displays all of your active Job or Skills goals.
    1. Note that for academia users, Competency goals will display.
  2. Paused: Displays all of your paused goals.
  3. Recommendations: If enabled, the Recommendations tab displays courses and groups related to your active goals. 
By default, the widget only shows a preview of goals in each tab.
  1. You can navigate the preview by clicking the arrows in the upper-right corner of the widget.

    Hiding widgets

    If you do not want to see specific widgets on your home page, you can hide them from the dashboard:
    1. Click the three dot Three dot menu icon in the upper-right corner of the widget.
    2. Click Hide.

    All hidden widgets will appear in the Hidden widgets section of the right bar. To add a hidden widget back to the dashboard:
    1. Click the expand Expand icon  icon.

    Additional widgets

    Additional widgets may display at the bottom of the Dashboard, depending on the set up of your site. Additional widgets may include:
    1. Groups widget: This widget lists any groups you belong to. You can click the Group name to access the group.
    2. News widget: This widget lists the latest news and announcements for your site. You can click on a News posting to be directed to the New page.
    3. Awards widget: This widget lists the awards you have received. You can click on an Award to view it.
    4. Mastery widget: This widget displays your active skills and mastery ratings. You can click the skill to view the individual skill page.

    News and Agenda

    There are two additional home page views, which display as tabs at the top of the home page.
    1. Click the News tab to view news feeds for course and group events, posts, blogs and more.  
      1. Note that some platforms will set the News tab as the default landing tab, meaning it will be the first page that displays when users log in.
    2. Click the Agenda tab to view day by day updates of course and group events.

    Right panel widgets

    In the right panel, widgets that are a part of your platform will display. The widgets that display vary based on the setup of your platform.  Right panel widgets include:
    1. To do widget: This widget displays your to-do list. 
      1. If you are a learner or student, this widget includes a list of any surveys or assessments that are due. 
      2. If you are an instructor or teacher, this widget includes a list of assessments that are ready to grade or score. If you click on the link, you will see a list of assessments that need grading, as well as providing an option to see a complete list of all assessments. 
      3. All users can add custom items to the To-do widget by clicking the add Add icon icon and adding a description. 
    2. Compliance widget: If you are enrolled in a course that is required for compliance, this widget will display your status for compliance courses.
    3. Game widget: If you are a part of a site wide game, your current game score and level will display in the game widget.
    4. Announcements widget: This widget lists all the business, course, and group announcements for the last seven days. To see an announcement's details, click on it. A pop-up will open with the announcement.
    5. Today widget: This widget lists all of today's items, including assessments that are due, modules that you are teaching or taking, and calendar events.
    6. Upcoming widget: This area lists upcoming items in the next seven days. Modules are not shown, only assessments due and calendar events. If there are more than 20 items, only the first 20 are listed.
