Overview
The platform allows you to embed the following MS office files directly within courses and classes:
- Microsoft Word.
- Microsoft Excel.
- Microsoft PowerPoint.
The embedded files are added as sections within a module (or lesson) and will appear directly on the page for learners.
Installing the MS Office Live Embed app
In order to embed MS offices, an administrator must install the MS Office Live Embed app. To install the app, administrators:
- Click Admin from the primary navigation menu.
- Click App center from the fly-out menu.
- Click Install on the MS Office Live Embed app in the Content section.
Embedding a MS Office file
To embed a MS Office file in a course, instructors:
- Access the course or class.
- Access a module.
- Click Add section.
- Click File from the Add section pop-up.
The Upload file pop-up displays.
- Drag and drop a MS office file to the pop-up, or click click to browse to locate a MS Office file on your computer.
- After selecting a file:
- Name the file.
- Add a file Description (optional).
- Select a Library for the file.
- Click Save.
A new section has been created, with the MS Office file embedded. To view the section as an instructor:
- Click the section within the module.
As an instructor, the Microsoft Office file appears on the page as a Resource. For learners, the MS Office file will appear embedded on the page. To edit content for the section:
- Click Edit in the Introduction section to add instructions or text above the MS Office file.
- Click Details in the Resource section to view or edit the MS Office file.
Learner view
When learners access a course section with the MS Office file, the file is embedded on the page.
- Learners can scroll or click through the document directly on the page.
