Ratings and reviews

Overview

You can allow learners to rate and review courses they are enrolled in. After a rating is submitted, you can moderate them. You can choose to accept or dismiss reviews. The average rating displayed in the Course catalog only takes into account the approved ratings.

Enabling Ratings and Reviews

If you want to enable reviews for a course, visit the course and go to Admin/Configure, select Tabs, then click the Reviews checkbox.

Learner view

Once enabled, learners will see the "Rate this course" box in the right bar of the course landing page. Note that learners do not have to complete the course in order to see this option.

Learners can rate the course by clicking the "Click to rate" link. A pop-up will open where they can enter the rating and their comment.

Once saved, learners will see their rating and review displayed in the right bar. They can make changes to their ratings and reviews by clicking on the Edit icon.

Instructor view

When a learner submits a rating, the lead instructor for the course will receive a notification of the submission. To moderate the rating, click on the link in the notification.

If you want to publish the rating, click the checkbox.

Published reviews and ratings are visible on the catalog page of the course.
