Ratings and reviews

Overview

The platform supports ratings and reviews for courses. If ratings are enabled, learners can rate and review the courses they are enrolled in. Instructors can moderate the reviews, and choose to accept or dismiss each review.

The Course catalog displays the average ratings for each course. Only approved ratings are included in the displayed average.

Please note the business platform uses the term 'course', and the academia platform uses the term 'class'. The terms 'course' and 'class' are interchangeable in this article.  

Enabling ratings and reviews

Ratings and reviews can be enabled or disabled at a course level. To enable course ratings and reviews:

  1. Access a course or class.
  2. Click Admin from the course navigation menu.
  3. Click Features from the fly-out menu.
  4. Select the Reviews checkbox.

Learner view

If reviews are enabled for a course, any learner enrolled in the course can leave a review. To review a course, learners:

  1. Access the course.
  2. Locate the 'Rate this course' widget in the right panel.
  3. Click Click to rate.

The Add review pop-up displays. To rate and review a course, learners:

  1. Click on the star that represents their rating, with 1 star being the lowest rating and 5 stars being the highest rating.
  2. Enter an optional comment.
  3. Click Save.

After saving a rating, learners will see their rating and review displayed in the 'Rating' widget in the right panel. To edit their rating, learners:

  1. Click the Edit  icon in the 'Rating' widget in the right panel of the course.

Instructor view

When a learner submits a rating, the lead instructor for the course will receive a notification of the submission. To moderate course ratings:

  1. Access the course or class.
  2. Click Reviews from the course navigation menu.
  3. Or, the lead instructor can click the link in the rating notification.

  1. Click the Publish? checkbox for the review.

The ratings are displays on the course tile in the course catalog. To view published reviews and ratings:

  1. Click the course tile in the course catalog.
  2. Click the Reviews tab.
