Modules and lessons overview

Overview

Course and class content is broken into modules, which are the primary topics for the course.

Please note, CYPHER for business defaults to the term modules. CYPHER for academia defaults to the term lessons. The terms modules and lessons are interchangeable in this article. 
When you select a course or class, the associated modules will display. The number of sections within the module and your current progress display on each module tile.



  1. Click the List view and Tile view icon to display the sections within a module as a list or as tiles.
    1. In list view (shown below), you can also choose to show or hide the sections in the module. Sections can be pages, assessments, tools, or other resources that make up the content of the module.


On the course landing page, multiple widgets may display:

  1. The Mastery widget displays your current progress through the course, alongside a Mastery chart. The Mastery Chart displays your mastery rating for the competencies and skills associated with the course. To see your progress on each competency, click the Mastery chart.
  2. The Games widget displays your current progress in games or quests associated with the course. If enabled, a Leaderboard displays as well, allowing you to see how you rank against other learners and teams in the course.

The Modules Navigation Bar

When you begin a course, the Modules secondary navigation menu appears next to the the primary navigation menu. 

The following menu items may be available:
  1. Dashboard: A splash page that displays a course overview and assorted widgets available in the course.
  2. Modules: The modules and sections that make up the course content.
  3. Blogs: A page dedicated to learner and instructor blogs associated with the course.
  4. Chat: A chat room for learners and instructors of the course.
  5. Assessments: Details of your assessment submissions, scores, analytics and the associated grading scale.
  6. Wiki: A page for collaborative Wiki creation and editing for learners and instructors.
  7. Resources: Documents and videos that support the course.
  8. Learners: A list of learners along with messaging functionality.
  9. Instructors: A list of course instructors along with messaging functionality.
  10. Games: A breakdown of your progress and awards through the levels of the course. Course badges and points are also displayed on this page.
  11. Mastery: A breakdown of your mastery ratings for the competencies and skills associated with the course.

The menu items available in the Modules navigation panel will vary based on the setup of the course.



A module is comprised of sections such as content pages, assessments, or interactive elements. When you begin a module, a table of contents displays that is comprised of sections and pages.

To navigate through a module:
  1. Click the Previous and Continue buttons at the top of each page.
  2. You can also click directly on a section or page to jump directly to the content.
Note that both navigation bars are still available throughout the module, but are minimized to allow more room for course content.





At any time, you can return to the modules overview page by clicking the Overview icon.
